Alleviating doubts for those who already have electric cars. But want to install an electric car charger, there are 5 things to consider before installing the charger.
electricity meter for those who want to charge their electric cars at home. The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) recommends changing the meter size to 30(100) to make it a larger size. (Normally, general residences use 15(45) to prevent excessive use of electricity.
Electrical Control Cabinet (MDB) Check inside the cabinet whether there is space to install a Circuit Breaker (CB) or not because making a charging station requires a separate control cabinet separate for use with other electrical appliances. If there is no space, another sub-control cabinet must be added.
Leakage circuit breaker (RCD) when the electric current flowing in and out is not equal. It may result in an electrical short circuit and a fire. But if the charger already has a built-in power cut-off system, there is no need to install it.
Circuit blocks (MCB) and main cable. If the original main cable size is 16 Dr. mm., it must be adjusted to be larger to 25 Dr. mm. and the circuit board can support up to 45 ( A) is 100(A) for consistency.
The socket (EV Socket) must be a 3-hole type with a grounding wire. They must be able to withstand continuous electric current of not less than 16(A) or more. The shape may be adjusted according to the plug format of each model of EV electric car.
